Merge PDFs or Extract Pages: Prepare the Right Attachment
Before preparing an attachment, decide whether you need several documents in one file or only a few pages from a large document. Choosing the right operation avoids sending pages the recipient does not need.
When to merge PDFs
Use Merge PDF files when separate documents should become one attachment, such as a cover letter, CV and certificates. Arrange the files before merging: their order determines the final page sequence. The tool does not sort pages by filename.
When to extract pages
Use Extract PDF pages when you need a subset of a document. Enter 1, 6-8 for the first page followed by pages six through eight. Page numbers start at 1, and Arabic digits are accepted. Duplicates are removed and the new file follows your entered order.
If your document is phone photos
Start with Images to PDF. Arrange the images before creating the file. Each fits onto an A4 page without cropping its edges. Check photo orientation and text clarity first. The PDF contains images, not searchable text; there is no OCR processing.
A check before sending
- Confirm document order and the required page count.
- Open the downloaded copy and review the first, last and any sensitive pages.
- Check that no unrelated personal documents are included.
- Keep the originals; the tools create a new copy.
Important limits
Merging accepts up to 20 files, 50 MB total and 1,000 pages. Extraction accepts a source up to 50 MB and 1,000 pages. Encrypted files and interactive forms are unsupported. Bookmarks, embedded attachments and document-level features are not transferred.
Do not merge or extract a digitally signed PDF when signature validity matters. Keep the signed original and follow the recipient’s required submission process.
