4×6 cm Photo Size in Pixels and How to Crop It
A 4×6 photo can mean centimetres or inches. The proportions are similar, but the physical sizes differ considerably. Check the unit beside the preset in the photo crop tool.
How many pixels is a 4×6 cm photo?
The answer depends on print resolution. Calculate pixels as centimetres ÷ 2.54 × dots per inch. At 300 DPI, a 4×6 cm image is approximately 472×709 pixels, rounded to whole pixels.
| Physical size | Width × height in pixels |
|---|---|
| 3.5 × 4.5 cm | 413 × 531 |
| 4 × 6 cm | 472 × 709 |
| 5 × 7 cm | 591 × 827 |
| 10 × 15 cm | 1181 × 1772 |
| 4 × 6 inches | 1200 × 1800 |
Choose what stays in the frame
- Open the tool and choose a photo from your device.
- Select Photo 4 × 6 cm. Swap portrait and landscape if needed.
- Drag the photo inside the frame. Use the zoom slider for a tighter crop; the image is not stretched to fill the frame.
- Select Crop and prepare image, check the preview and download the PNG.
Print at actual size
The tool embeds 300 DPI metadata in PNG files produced with print presets. Choose actual size or 100% scale in your print software, and turn off fit-to-page. Check the print preview: some software may ignore resolution metadata. Whole-pixel rounding makes the physical dimensions approximate, and is not a guarantee of official document compliance.
What about official photo requirements?
The tool sets dimensions and crop only. It does not check the background, face position or age of a photo, or remove backgrounds. Read the receiving authority’s instructions first. If a file-size limit also applies, try the image compressor after cropping, while keeping the accepted formats in mind.
